William Duer

Born in Devonshire, England in 1747 to John Duer and Francis Frye (1).

Came to New York in 1768 (2).

Served politically from 1777-1778 in NYC (3).

Served on the finance committee of the War Department (4). 

Married Lady Catherine Alexander in 1779 (5).

Caused the Wall Street Panic of 1792 due to illicitly acquiring 5 million acres in Ohio then plotting to sell the land to French immigrants (6).

At the request of George Washington, spearheads an intelligence/counter intelligence program to monitor British activities in 1777 (7).

Drafted U.S. Constitution (8).
